Qualitative analysis is based on descriptive, quality data that is not or cannot be measured. Some examples of qualitative data might be the difficulty of an exam question, chewiness of a piece of meat, the strength of an odor, or the degree of love, hate, joy, anger felt.

There are different types of qualitative research methods like an in-depth interview, focus groups, ethnographic research, content analysis, case study research that are usually used. The results of qualitative methods are more descriptive and the inferences can be drawn quite easily from the data that is obtained.

Qualitative surveys are usually conducted on a representative cross section of the population of interest; the participants must meet the criteria for inclusion in the study. The types of qualitative analysis are phenomenological study, grounded theory study, case study, and ethnographic study. However, these types of qualitative research are formed on the basis corporate level work; these types could change in other work fields.
